Through the years, Pursuit has been humbled by the number of couples who have chosen to make us a part of one of their biggest days by outfitting their wedding. We help our customers find the exact style to fit their vision—and now we’re beyond thrilled to share how that vision came to life for Bradley and Sarah Fink. Read more about their wedding day, why they chose Pursuit, and some important advice for the soon-to-be-married men out there.
Why did you ultimately choose Pursuit for yourself and/or your groomsmen? In other words, what made Pursuit stand out amongst the rest?
My then-fiancé at the time, Sarah, and I had gone to a larger men’s store and were not satisfied with their choices. Sarah suggested we go to Pursuit to see what they offered. Ultimately, though, what made me choose Pursuit was the truly amazing staff, Sheyan and Tyler. They genuinely cared about Sarah and my big day, and they took the time to get to know not only me, but Sarah, as well. Additionally, being able to say you have your own fully customized suit doesn’t hurt either.
Tell us a little more about your suit.
My suit was fully customized. I had a lighter grey to stand out from my groomsmen. I also had a light purple gingham liner with the date of our wedding. Under the collar, I had “DRUNK!” in quotes, which is an inside joke among all the groomsmen. Our wedding date was stitched in purple and “DRUNK!” was gold/yellow. Finally, I had a light purple thread on the lapel and the buttons on the wrists. The groomsmen, dads, and Sarah’s younger brother had light grey suits. We all wore wisteria ties to match the shade of purple of the bridesmaids. We picked a lighter purple and yellow with green accents for our colors because those are the predominant colors of the wildflowers—purple coneflowers and black-eyed susans—at our reception venue at that time of year.
We’d love to hear details: when and where did you get married? Any special reasoning behind the date or location?
We decided to get married on July 28th, 2018. Our ceremony was at St. Pius X in Reynoldsburg, which is Sarah’s church she went to growing up, and also where she went to grade school. That made the bridal party’s transportation, a school bus, even more fun! Our reception was held at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Sarah and I chose this venue because it was in a great location with an amazing view of the Columbus skyline. It’s a truly unique building, and most importantly, it blended our love of nature and the outdoors with the love we have for Columbus. We also felt good that our money would go towards funding environmental education programs and other conservation efforts at the center.
Were there any noteworthy stories from the day of your wedding?
One funny story is the speech my brother (aka, the best man) gave. He pretty much roasted me to the point that some of my groomsmen (who are first responders) came up to check me for third degree burns. A heartwarming one for me, personally, is when I saw my dad and Sarah dancing together. That really did bring a lot of joy to my heart. Another funny story is that Sarah gave a PSA about mosquitoes and West Nile Virus, informing guests that we had provided mosquito repellent if they would be hanging out outside (Sarah works for Franklin County Public Health’s Mosquito Management Program).
Any advice you could give the men for their big day?
Be an active participant in the planning process leading up to the wedding—because the way I see it, you’re already a team before that big day. Also, it helps to support your future spouse. When the big day comes, though, remember to breathe, relax, and take it all in. In other words, focus on the present and on your soon-to-be-spouse. Don’t worry about what’s going on around you or start day-dreaming. I’d argue it’s one of the most important days of your life, so be present.
What are you looking forward to now that the wedding day is over?
Being able to travel across the country and world with Sarah, buying a home, and enjoying the time we have with one another. Then starting a family someday.
A huge thank you to Bradley and Sarah for sharing your wedding stories and giving such thoughtful feedback! And a special thank you to Ashley Rene Photography for capturing the love and happiness on Bradley and Sarah’s big day!
