Through the years, Pursuit has been humbled by the number of couples who have chosen to make us a part of one of their biggest days by outfitting their wedding. We help our customers find the exact style to fit their vision—and now we’re beyond thrilled to share how that vision came to life for Josh and Alicia Kempton. Read more about their wedding day, why they chose Pursuit, and some important advice for soon-to-be-married men out there.
Why did you ultimately choose Pursuit for yourself and/or your groomsmen? In other words, what made Pursuit stand out amongst the rest?
When it came to finding a suit, Pursuit’s reputation instantly put them above the rest. I wanted a quality suit that my groomsmen and I could keep and wear again and again. I was not disappointed one bit. From start to finish, they made the entire process smooth and convenient.
Tell us a little more about your suit.
I went with the Two-Piece Blue for my groomsmen and a Three-Piece Blue for myself. I also went with a blue bow tie to surprise my wife. Since it’s tradition for the groom to not see the wedding dress, we decided my bride would not see the suits until the big day. She was very surprised, and the bow tie was a huge success. I was initially against the thought of a bow tie, but still get compliments on it to this day.
We’d love to hear details: when and where did you get married? Any special reasoning behind the date or location?
We got married on May 11, 2019 at Iron Gate Equestrian Center in Croton, Ohio. We chose this location as soon as we stepped foot in the venue. The size, beauty and ability to have the entire ceremony and reception in one place sold us. It’s been three months and we continue to get compliments on the venue.
Were there any noteworthy stories from the day of your wedding?
The wedding went off without a hitch. One funny story was a cat that obviously loved our Pursuit suits. Since neither the bride nor I had seen one another, we went out in a beautiful wooded area for our first look. To our surprise, a cat followed us and wouldn’t leave our side. We have multiple pictures with a sneaky little cat in the background, climbing a tree and a groomsman carrying it away only for it to scurry right back.
Any advice you could give the men for their big day?
Relax, be around your closest friends before the time of the wedding, make sure you know how to tie your tie (it was my first bow tie, and it was a struggle). Enjoy your time. I can truly say it was the best day and we remember every moment. One thing we did that was a little different—and that we were super thankful for—was joining the happy hour. Right after our pictures, we made an effort to join our friends and family for the informal happy hour. This allowed us to say some hellos and thank yous. And let’s be honest, it’s a hectic day, so you need a drink or two.
What are you looking forward to now that the wedding day is over?
Travel. My wife and I love to travel. We had an amazing honeymoon, multiple out-of-state weddings and a trip to Europe is coming soon. Now that all the planning is over, we get to enjoy one another and travel, eat great food, drink plenty of bourbon and visit new exciting places.
A huge thank you to Josh and Alicia for sharing your wedding stories and giving such thoughtful feedback! And a special thank you to Brittney Cottman Photography for capturing the love and happiness on Josh and Alicia’s big day!
