Through the years, Pursuit has been humbled by the number of couples who have chosen to make us a part of one of their biggest days by outfitting their wedding. We help our customers find the exact style to fit their vision—and now we’re beyond thrilled to share how that vision came to life for Mike and Gloria Young. Read more about their wedding day, why they chose Pursuit, and some important advice for the soon-to-be-married men out there.
Why did you ultimately choose Pursuit for yourself and/or your groomsmen? In other words, what made Pursuit stand out amongst the rest?
I had a few vendors that I looked at—both custom and large retail vendors. I chose Pursuit because I was won over by the Columbus team’s customer service and attentiveness. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to choose from their selection, but I was ultimately glad I did. Being able to see and choose the details for my tuxedo and for my groomsmen’s suit was fun.
Tell us a little more about your suit.
For all my groomsmen and dads, I chose a Navy blue suit + white dress shirt. For the dads, I selected a navy skinny tie with white and pink polka dots. For the fellas, I chose a blue skinny tie, subtly different from the suit. For myself, I chose a navy blue tuxedo with vest + white dress shirt + standard glossy black bow tie.
We’d love to hear details: when and where did you get married? Any special reasoning behind the date or location?
We got married on June 22nd of 2019. The location was at The Estate of New Albany. We selected this venue because they offer a donation to the charity of our choice. It was locally owned, close to our residence and had multiple hotel accommodations nearby. After meeting with the owners, my wife and I learned that we had similar values that we appreciated.
Were there any noteworthy stories from the day of your wedding?
First, it didn’t rain that day. That was one of our major concerns for our outdoor ceremony leading up to that week. Second, our 19-month-old son’s wedding outfit really matched well with our suits. He was the ring bearer and basically stole the show. Then my 9-year-old daughter, Milana, had the task of walking her little brother down the aisle, along with the rings. Kudos to her! He also decided to make himself known throughout the ceremony by calling out to all three of us to get our attention during the ceremony. I even tied the bow tie, myself—I did pretty good for the first time! Little things that we’ll never forget!
Any advice you could give the men for their big day?
The best advice I received and would pass along to any groom is to find some time alone with your bride for reflection. The events of the day are consuming and will go fast.
What are you looking forward to now that the wedding day is over?
We enjoyed having a few days in between our wedding and our honeymoon to rest, prepare and pack for our trip.
A huge thank you to Mike and Gloria for sharing your wedding stories and giving such thoughtful feedback! And a special thank you to Jessica Miller Photography for capturing the love and happiness on Mike and Gloria’s big day!
