Through the years, Pursuit has been humbled by the number of couples who have chosen to make us a part of one of their biggest days by outfitting their wedding. We help our customers find the exact style to fit their vision—and now we’re beyond thrilled to share how that vision came to life for our very own Sheyan McGrath and Bobby Jocson. Read more about their wedding day, why they chose Pursuit, and some important advice for the soon-to-be-married men out there.
Why did you ultimately choose Pursuit for yourself and/or your groomsmen? In other words, what made Pursuit stand out amongst the rest?
I’ll avoid the obvious—like how I’m the wedding coordinator for Pursuit and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else! All personal ties aside, I love Pursuit’s options and service. We decided not to have a wedding party, but I have three brothers, my step-dad, and, of course, Bobby, the groom. So, we still had plenty of people in need of a suit! My family lives out of town, but they were able to come up and do a group fitting. We made it into a family day by doing that in the morning and then hanging out in the Short North later. Everyone had a great time!
Tell us a little more about your suit.
EVERYONE did a different suit. I did not set any parameters, so it was fun seeing them do their own thing. Two of my brothers and step-dad did suits from the standard collection, and my other brother and Bobby did custom suits. The colors ranged from charcoal, French blue, burgundy, blue-purple, and lilac.
We’d love to hear details: when and where did you get married? Any special reasoning behind the date or location?
We chose to do a destination wedding in San Diego. We had never been to California before and thought it looked like a beautiful place to say “I do!” We were ecstatic to have a little over 50 guests fly out with us to partake in a three-day celebration. We would not have wanted it any other way.
Were there any noteworthy stories from the day of your wedding?
Ohhhh man. Many of the stories I have probably shouldn’t be put into writing! On the heartwarming side, seeing all of the people that we love fly across the country to be with us was such a feeling! No one lived even in a neighboring state to Cali. We did a welcome reception at our hotel the night before the wedding and when every new person showed up, I reacted with “You’re actually here?!” It was all so touching, and we felt so much love on our wedding day. The support we’ve received and continue to receive from our family and friends is something that we could not be more grateful for.
Any advice you could give the men for their big day?
If you’re wearing a bow tie, know how to tie it (or have someone else there who can)! One of my brothers decided to wear a bow tie and I was tying it for him right before the wedding started. He knew that I’m the bow tie master, so no worries there, but I’m sure a lot of guys struggle with it on their wedding day.
What are you looking forward to now that the wedding day is over?
Being married! The wedding was great, but Bobby and I are now ready to take on all the awesome future adventures we get to do as a legit, certified unit. The good, the bad, the ugly—we’re here for it.
A huge thank you to Sheyan and Bobby for sharing your wedding stories and giving such thoughtful feedback! And a special thank you to Allie Lehman, Vince Coleman, and Elisa Fay for capturing the love and happiness on Sheyan and Bobby’s big day!
