At the end of an eventful 2018, we had grown our team 3x, opened a new shop in Cincinnati, and received some really humbling recognition, and it left us with this immense feeling of gratitude for our community.
We were struck by the huge number of people who had contributed to our success and wanted to tell our story as the collection of the stories of those people we love. We take a lot of pride in the amazing group of passionate and ambitious people who have rallied around our concept, and we thought the most powerful way to express that was to tell our story as a collective story of our community.
That’s why we created a video to say thank you.
From the members of the Pursuit team, to partners like the gold-medal winning Team Shuster, to fellow Ohio entrepreneurs Jeni Britton Bauer of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Joe DeLoss of Hot Chicken Takeover, national sportswriter Mark Titus and golf legend Jack Nicklaus, and musical stars like CAAMP and Trampled by Turtles—see if you can spot a few familiar faces:
The project centers around a video made in conjunction with Bradley In Space Productions, which was inspired by the song “Melt” by Big Red Machine—a band named for the legendary Cincinnati Reds team of the 1970s and made up of Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and Cincinnati-native Aaron Dessner of The National.
Along with the video, we also put together a page that tells the story about each of these people and places and how they have played a role. If you’re interested in learning about the people in the video and their connection to Pursuit, take a look.
We always say ‘we don’t have a type’ because you couldn’t peg someone as a Pursuit supporter based on their zip code, race, age, gender, or profession. We take a lot of pride in the amazing group of passionate and ambitious people who have rallied around our concept, and we thought the most powerful way to express that was to tell our story as a collective story of our community.
We hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we did making it. We’d like to thank all of those who have been behind Pursuit since the very beginning, those involved in the video, those who’ve shopped with us and so many others. You are who we are.
