As a shop owner, when one of your favorite bands is coming through town it’s natural to daydream about them stopping by to check out your store and play a private concert for your friends. When the daydream becomes reality you’re incredibly grateful for an event you’ll never forget.

On the surface the pairing may seem a bit odd; a suit store in Ohio and a Minnesota band known for performing in t-shirts and jeans. If you know Pursuit, though, you know that we’re about much more than just suits. People come to us before some of the biggest moments in their lives and the discussions go far beyond what to wear. Along the way we’ve heard thousands of inspiring stories of pursuit and we love to tell those stories of friends and customers who are doing big things in their realm. It’s our goal to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs, community leaders, athletes, musicians, and more in the way they inspire us as we build Pursuit. Trampled by Turtles provide a great example of a story that drives us to take Pursuit to a larger stage.

The band was getting their start in 2003 in the small town of Duluth, Minnesota towards the end of my college days at the University of Minnesota Duluth. My friends and I would go see them play on Saturday nights and there would be twenty then fifty then a hundred people in the room. The shows were always high energy and a very Duluth type of (banjo + mandolin) rockin’. When I graduated in 2005 I left Duluth for Columbus but I always kept my eye on TBT, excited for the ascension of band.

The band’s rise wasn’t instant but rather it was steady with each tour and each new album bringing them closer to national prominence. When they came to Columbus in the fall of 2012 to play the Newport Music Hall I was blown away to see a sold out show in such a large venue. The band was the same but the stage and the audience was so much bigger. They’ve played David Letterman, Red Rocks, Bonaroo, Coachella, and Letterman again, been #1 on multiple Billboard Charts, and launched their own music festival, Festival Palomino. And then, they played Pursuit!

The band made its way back to Columbus June 10, 2016 and spent the day at Pursuit before their full house show (again) at The Newport. The guys all got fitted for new suits and then we sat down to discuss their journey from those small shows in Duluth to the heights they’ve reached today. We made a video (Trampled by Turtles: In Pursuit) and we streamed the show around the world.
I’m incredibly grateful to the band, their crew, our crew, and friends who made the day one of the most memorable for our young company. The guys were extremely gracious with their time and everyone had a blast. Be sure to check out the Trampled by Turtles: In Pursuit video and watch the full set we streamed on Facebook Live.
Cheers to your Pursuit!
